There is nothing better for you than home cooking, and as I learn to cook and create foods with flavor I am finding that onions are a staple in many of my recipes. Onions have a cardiovascular benefit and could very well prevent a heart attack by protecting our heart and blood vessels. Studies show that onions have a supportive benefit to our bones and connective tissue. Daily consumption of onions has been shown to increase bone density. With the onion’s antioxidant – quercetin – it has anti-inflammatory benefits. Lastly, in moderate amounts, onions have been shown to lower risk of some cancers.
As the benefits of onions continue to be studied, it looks as though they have the potential to help balance blood sugar and prevent bacterial infection!
