The Ice Cream Bet; Smoothies to the Rescue!

Two years ago my friend made a bet with her dad about ice cream. The first one to cave in and have a bowl had to pay the winner a good deal of money. And I am talking a lot of money. So neither of them ate ice cream… even still, to this day! Guess how my friend made it through: Fruit Smoothies.

She would psyche herself out by eating a thick smoothie out of a bowl. It technically wasn’t ice cream, but still satisfied that thirst for something cold and sweet.

Smoothies are great. I’m a huge fan myself.

I start with simple ingredients.

-Frozen or Fresh Fruit

-Greek Yogurt

From there you can add anything depending on your mood.

  • Sometimes I add orange juice or chia seeds (healthy and it doesn’t interfere with taste).
  • If I am limited on my frozen strawberries, I often add banana and a spoonful of peanut butter.
  • One of my new favorite things to do is to sprinkle some chia seeds on top of my smoothie once it’s all blended.

*(Now I must warn you, it adds some crunchiness, but since the berry seeds are already in there, it doesn’t bother me.)

Smoothies are great for squeezing in those antioxidants and good for a snack when it isn’t quite dinner time.
